Join RI President Jennifer Jones in Toronto!
On July 5, Rotary International President Jennifer Jones will be in Canada's largest city to showcase the impact of Rotary's many projects and partnerships. This includes the Great Lakes Watershed Cleanup, a multi-district Rotary project, and Rotary's partnership with Kids Against Hunger Canada on a food packing initiative that engages community members to address hunger in Canada and around the world. President Jennifer will close out the day with a fun-filled Imagine Rotary BBQ hosted at the Toronto Botanical Garden. She can't wait to to celebrate with you!
 
Note: The main locations for all three events below are in District 7070, but participation from all four hub districts (7010, 7070, 7080, 7090) is encouraged! Satellite events are being planned for people in those districts for whom travel to Toronto is not possible.

What is the name of the area we will be cleaning?

We will tackle Sunnyside Park and Sir Casimir Gzowski Park, located beside the Humber River and Lake Ontario, at 1755 Lake Shore Boulevard West, Toronto.  Click here for information about Sunnyside Park. Click here for information about Sir Casimir Gzowski Park
 

Where can I register?

Click here to register for this event. Registration is limed to 25 people from each of the following districts:; 7010, 7070, 7080, 7090.  Please indicate your district when you register. Registration is on a first-come first-served basis. 
 

What time should I arrive at the event?

The event starts at 10:00 am. President Jennifer will welcome all volunteers at approximately 10:15 am.
 

What time will the event be over?

The event will run until 12:00 pm . President Jennifer may need to leave a bit before then to attend the next event on the calendar.
 

Where should I park?

Humber Bridge Parking. Access this parking lot from Lakeshore West Boulevard just east of the Humber River. This lot can accommodate about 80 vehicles.  There is also a Green-P parking lot just east of Sir Casimir Gzowski Park. It can also be access from Lakeshore Boulevard West. 
 

Will I have an opportunity to talk to President Jennifer Jones?

President Jennifer will mingle with volunteers as much as she can. The time she can spend with each volunteer will be impacted by the large number of volunteers at the event, her own clean up efforts, and media appearances.      
 

What time will President Jennifer be formally addressing the volunteers? 

 President Jennifer will welcome all volunteers at approximately 10:15 am.

 

Will T-Shirts be available for sale at the day of the event?

Will water or food be available for volunteers?

Volunteers are asked to bring their own water and snacks (in reusable containers). We hope to have food trucks on site at noon where volunteers can purchase food and beverages .  
 

What happens if it rains?

This event will take place rain or shine. There is limited covered shelter in the work area. Please bring appropriate rain gear if the forecast calls for rain. 
 

Will gloves and garbage bags be provided?

Yes, latex gloves and garbage will be provided to all volunteers. Feel free to bring your own work/gardening gloves if you have concerns about cuts or nicks. 
 

Why is registration for this event limited to just 100 people (25 people per district)?

There is limited space at the location we will be working at cleaning up.  Members are encouraged to participate in satellite environmental events being organized within districts 7010, 7080 and 7090 that day.
 

What other environmental events are being supported by Rotary that day? 

Districts 7010, 7080 and 7090 are each organizing a satellite environmental event for July 5th.  If you are unable to register for the watershed cleanup at the foot of the Humber, you are encouraged to participate in the event that is held within your district.  Details about satellite environmental events will be released in mid-May.
